allergy friendly cream of chicken soup in a bowl with gluten free croutons

Quick, Easy and Dairy Free Recipe of Cream of Chicken Soup. The only soup recipe you need this winter. Serve with toppings such as parsley and either Dairy and Gluten Free Cheese Croutons or Gluten Free Plain Croutons. Make vegetarian version by using my Allergy Friendly Cream of Mushroom recipe.

Making the recipe allergy friendly

  • 🥣 Dairy Free: I used dairy free cooking cream but if that is not available use any dairy free milk alternative.
  • 🥣 Gluten Free: This recipe uses all purpose gluten free flour as a thickener.

You can add any other spices that you love to the recipe to make it more interesting. Add jalapenos for to make it spicy or dairy free cheese for a cheesy flavor.

Type of Chicken

  • 🥣 Shredded: Boil and shred the chicken, keep the stock to use in the recipe.
  • 🥣 Use rotisserie chicken.

Soup Consistency

Depending on whether you use a dairy free cream or milk you might have to adjust the quantities of both the milk and gluten free flour to achieve the desired thickness. The gluten free flour takes a little longer to thicken then regular flour.

Serving the soup two ways

  • 🥣 Chunky: Add your favorite vegetables such as carrots.
  • 🥣 Smooth: For a smoother consistency, cool the soup a little and then place in the blender and blend.

  • 🥣 This soup can be made ahead of time and stored in an air-tight container in the refrigerator.
  • 🥣 Let the soup cool completely before placing it in a freezer-safe container and freezing it.
  • 🥣 Use as an alternative for cream of chicken in recipes.
